TITLE: Trauma-informed approaches in youth work

PLACE: Velletri, Italy

DATES: 8-13 June 2026

AIM: To strengthen the capacity of youth workers across Europe to provide trauma-informed, inclusive, and psychologically safe support to young people affected by wars.

OBJECTIVES:

• By equipping youth workers with knowledge, skills, and practical tools, to foster youth work environments that are more inclusive, empathetic, and psychologically safe;
• To raise awareness of how trauma, particularly in contexts of war and displacement, affects the psychological well-being, behavior, and daily lives of young people;
• To deepen understanding and provide evidence-based, trauma-informed methods to support young people in a respectful, empathetic, and effective manner;
• To develop practical skills for maintaining professional boundaries and promoting self-care among youth workers;
• To promote the integration of trauma-informed principles into daily youth work practice, fostering inclusion, non-judgment, and healing, and empowering participants to act as advocates for systemic change within their organisations and communities.

NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS: The Armenian team will consist of 2 participants.

PROFILE OF PARTICIPANTS: Participants should be above 21 years old youth workers, youth leaders, project coordinators, youth coaches and mentors who are interested in the project topic and are committed to implement follow up activities after the training. 

LANGUAGE: Participants are required to have at least intermediate level of English, as the communication during the training will be in English. 

FINANCIAL AND OTHER CONDITIONS:

• Food and lodging are fully covered by the project. 
• The travel limit for Armenian participants is 395 Euros which will be reimbursed after the project via bank transfer upon submitting the ticket receipts to the organisers. 
• Visa fee and visa related costs will be covered by the project together with travel costs. 
• Participants are responsible for their travel insurance.

PARTICIPATION FEE: 35 EUR 

There is no participation fee for YIC members.
