TITLE: Planting Democracy

PLACE: Nyíregyháza, Hungary

DATES: 2-9 June 2026

PROJECT AIM: To empower young people to reconnect with democratic values and actively participate in civic and community life.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES:

• To improve participants’ understanding of democracy, active citizenship and European values. 
• To encourage youth participation in democratic processes at local, national and international levels. 
• To raise awareness about the risks of populism, extremism and disengagement from democratic life. 
• To develop participants’ critical thinking, communication and intercultural competences through non-formal education.

PARTICIPANT COUNTRIES: Armenia, Hungary, Italy, Georgia and Poland.

PARTICIPANTS: The Armenian team will consist of 5 young participants and 1 team leader.

• Young participants should be 18-26 years old active young people, volunteers or students interested in democracy, civic engagement and youth participation. Applicants should be motivated, open-minded and ready to actively engage in all activities. Members of YIC NGO will have priority in the selection process.

• Team Leader should be at least 25 years old experienced youth leader or youth worker with strong organisational and facilitation skills, as well as interest in the topic of the project. Previous experience in international youth projects with YIC is preferable. Members of YIC NGO will have priority in the selection process.

LANGUAGE: Young participants are required to have at least intermediate level of English. The team leader is required to have an advanced level of English.  

FINANCIAL AND OTHER CONDITIONS:

• Food and accommodation are fully covered by the project.
  
• The travel limit for Armenian participants is up to 309 EUR (per person), which will be reimbursed after the project upon submission of all required documents.
  
• Visa fee and visa-related costs will be covered up to 35 EUR and reimbursed together with travel costs.
  
• Participants are required to actively take part in all sessions and contribute to intercultural activities, including preparing an intercultural evening and presenting YIC NGO. 

PARTICIPATION FEE: 25 EUR 

There is no participation fee for YIC members.
