We are delighted to share about one of our most impressive projects of this summer, “Girls Leading Our World” (GLOW) which is a joint project of Gyumri “Youth Initiative Centre” and the U.S. Peace Corps Volunteers with the financial support of the U.S. Embassy Armenia. GLOW is a girls’ leadership and empowerment project that promotes leadership, friendship, civic engagement, gender equality, rights awareness in young Armenian women through targeted curriculum and participant-led community projects implementation. On September 13th, the final event of the YIC Girl’s Bicycle Project was held in Emili Aregak Center. During the event the participants showed their riding skills. Gyumri “Youth Initiative Centre” (YIC) NGO continues the beautiful tradition of celebrating the International Youth Day with remarkable events for the past four years. 2018 is not an exception and this year as well, on August 11, YIC NGO in cooperation with UN Population Fund, Armenia, SALTO Eastern Europe and Caucasus Resource Centre and ArmEvents implemented large-scale public events in Gyumri.  The event started with a Bike Ride and a March, followed by the Erasmus+ Info Tent where the participants of of the “EVS Event” and Erasmus+ Youth. On November 16, 2017 the range of events took place in Gyumri dedicated to International Students day. The launch of the events was at Youth Palace where 22 students, studying in higher, secondary professional and educational institutions of Shirak region were handed certificates from Gyumri Municipality and Shirak Regional Government for their high progress in education and social activity. The Gyumri Youth Initiative Center NGO, jointly with the United Nations Population Fund Armenia (UNFPA) celebrated International Youth Day with great enthusiasm this year too. GLOW Armenia in partnership with Gyumri Youth Initiative Centre (YIC) and Komitas Action Suisse-Arménie Swiss Humanitarian Foundation (KASA) implemented the GLOW CAMP from 3-8th of July in Toros, Armenia. The camp aims at empowering young women and promoting leadership through education in a community of sisterhood. Friday's Cafe" - is one of the local activities of YIC initiated by YIC EVS volunteers. Friday's Cafe takes place twice in a month during which special topics are chosen : music, poetry, painting, theatre, games and etc. During it YIC office is transferred into a Cafe where the "Friday's Cafe" takes place.
