On September 29, 2018 the farewell event for Alex Hooikammer (Belgium) took place. Alex used to do volunteering in Gyumri within the framework of European Voluntary Service (EVS) programme, has been a volunteer at Gyumri “Youth Initiative Centre” for a year organizing activities within the framework of "Friday’s Café" and various events, taught English with non-formal methods at Nº 7 basic school and “Aster” kindergarten in Gyumri and implemented Diversity and Equality Week in Youth House . We are delighted to share about one of our most impressive projects of this summer, “Girls Leading Our World” (GLOW) which is a joint project of Gyumri “Youth Initiative Centre” and the U.S. Peace Corps Volunteers with the financial support of the U.S. Embassy Armenia. GLOW is a girls’ leadership and empowerment project that promotes leadership, friendship, civic engagement, gender equality, rights awareness in young Armenian women through targeted curriculum and participant-led community projects implementation. Gyumri “Youth Initiative Centre” NGO is looking for English club leaders for beginners and intermediate levels. The duration of the clubs is six months, which will be held twice a week. On September 21, 2018 a non-formal meeting took place at YIC office with volunteers involved in the organizing activities of the International Youth Day events. Volunteers shared their impressions and made new proposals. At the end Gyumri YIC NGO handed certificates to volunteers for active participation and support in organizing activities of IYD events.              See more......


  On September 22 Gyumri “Youth Initiative Centre” NGO members meeting was held in the Youth House. During the meeting members were presented the semi-annual reports of Managerial and Supervising Bodies (President, International Board, Controller), the implemented projects of the organization and the upcoming actions. Besides the new members were introduced to the others and were handed membership cards. Then the meeting continued in non-formal atmosphere, allowing the members to communicate with each other and to enjoy a pleasant time.           ...


Within the framework of the Armenia-Germany School Exchange Program, Gyumri “Youth Initiative Centre” hosted a seven-member delegation from the Berlin largest school - Carl Von Linne special school. The goal of the project is the promotion of partnership between schools in Armenia and Germany, exchange of experience of the school children and teachers. On September 13th, the final event of the YIC Girl’s Bicycle Project was held in Emili Aregak Center. During the event the participants showed their riding skills.
